MARLBOROUGH AND DISTRICT EMBROIDERERS’ GUILD
We are a local branch of The Embroiderers’ Guild sharing
opportunities for discovery and creativity.
There is really no experience
necessary for membership. We have members of all ages and at all skill levels
ranging from our thriving Young Embroiderers to members studying for formal
qualifications in stitched textiles.
All meetings / workshops are held at
the Kennet Valley Hall, Lockeridge.
Our main meetings are held on the
first Monday of each month (except on Bank Holidays), 2pm – 4pm.
The regular
format is a talk / slides given by a guest speaker, followed by tea and biscuits
and a short business meeting.
We have a well stocked library of books, a
few videos and some equipment, which can be loaned for a small fee.
One-day sessions are arranged throughout the year for our Young Embroiderers.
These are for boys and girls aged 5 – 16 years and are very popular.
Informal Stitch Days are held on the last Monday of each month (excluding Bank
Holidays), 10am – 4pm. There is an informal and relaxed atmosphere for members
and friends to work on anything they wish to bring with them. A small charge of
£3 is made to cover the hire of the hall and members take their own packed
lunch.Tea ,coffee and biscuits are provided.
Workshops are arranged
throughout the year and are professionally tutored. The present charge for a
workshop is £20 for members and £25 for non-members.
Visitors are always
welcome to attend the meetings at £5 a time for up to three times as a guest
before committing to membership.
The annual subscription to join our guild in
2011 is £39.
Our present programme is on the notice board in the Kennet
Valley hall.
