Parish Council - Jan 2006 |
|
Chief
Superintendent Whickham attended this meeting to discuss
various aspects of the Policing for Summer Solstice
2006.
Mrs Judy Farthing attended and gave a report on the
recent Civil Emergency exercise.
Following Gordon Rendle’s resignation notices were placed
advertising the vacancy. So far no one has applied for
co-option.
Mr Godwin has placed drainage holes in the base of the Beckhampton
Bus shelter. These will be finished with a grid.
The seat commemorating Jane Lees, has been placed on grass next to
the Lytch gate in the High Street. Chairman Mrs Baldrey
& KD Councillor Gretchen Rawlins, would like to thank
all who so generously gave donations towards the seat
and Mr Godwin for placing it.
Chairman and KD Councillor Mrs Gretchen Rawlins attended a meeting
held by the Beckhampton Community Group. Several
concerns were expressed especially concerning the speed
of traffic when children are trying to cross the road
for the school bus. A letter has been sent to Andrew
Wyatt at WCC in support of the suggestion of a speed
limit.
Another concern raised is the frequent use by 4x4’s on bridleways
around the area. The bridleway at the back of Windmill
hill is now so deep with ruts that it is impossible for
riders, walkers, or cyclists to go along there. A
meeting is being held with Esther Daly the Footpath
Warden to discuss the problem.
2 planning applications have been received and approved.
1, Is for the renewal of outline planning permission for 2 houses
in South Street.
2, Is for listed building work at 6/7 Green Street, Avebury.
The Chairman attended a meeting of the Social Centre Committee. A
Bazaar will be held on the 26th
November. Mr & Mrs Farthing have donated a new
Fridge, Cooker and Microwave to the Social Centre..
This was gratefully received.
Complaints have been received that twice recently fireworks have
been let off at the Sanctuary in the early hours of Nov
1st. This
resulted in many people being kept awake and pets and
farm animals frightened. By the large bangs. This
matter has been taken up with the Police.
There will be no Parish Council meeting in December. The next P.C.
meeting will be held on January 17th
in the Social Centre at 7.30 p.m.

2006. Among items for discussion were the following:

Following a meeting to set the Precept for 2006/7 it was decided to
leave the precept at the same amount as last year.
The seat bought in memory of local resident Mrs Jane Lees is now in
situ along side the Lytch gate. The remainder of the
money collected some £30.00 has been donated to the bell
ringers fund at Avebury.
A brass plaque removed from the seat in Gilbert Hill will be
replaced shortly.
You will have seen from previous KVN that Mr Cronk is
hoping for more support for Neighbourhood watch. Anyone
interested should tel. Mr Cronk or Chairman of Avebury
Parish Council. Tel no 539603.

Avebury Trusloe.
Several cheques were raised for payment.
An Outline planning application for 2 houses in South Street has
been withdrawn.
Chairman gave reports on meetings she has recently
attended including, Marlbough Forum, Solstice, Silbury
Hill, and the Steering Group.
During the Christmas break there was a problem with the sewers in
Bray Street. This was caused mainly by inappropriate
objects being flushed into the system. These items
included baby wipes, facial tissues, and sanitary items
which had caused a blockage. Would resident please place
these items into waste bins and NOT FLUSH THEM DOWN THE
TOILET.
It has again been reported that children are riding small
motorbikes along roads in the village. This has been
reported to the Police.
A letter written to Fiona Reynolds, head of the National Trust
about concerns in Avebury has still not been replied to.
The letter was written on the 18th November. Members
felt that this situation should not go on and have asked
local M.P. Michael Ancram to again try to take this
forward.
Concern has been expressed about litter in the play area at Trusloe.
This litter included broken beer bottles, cigarette
packets, used condoms and tampax. THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE
IN A PLAY AREA MEANT ESPECIALLY FOR CHILDREN UNDER 12.
It is also extremely unpleasant for the person
collecting the litter,

Avebury
Parish Council - April 2006 |
|
The Annual General Meeting of Avebury
Parish Council was held on 18th April 2006.
8 members were present along with Kennet District
Councillor and Clerk Mrs Gretchen Rawlins.
Minutes of previous meeting were agreed and signed. Mrs
Jenny Baldrey was re-elected as Chairman. There were no
other nominations.
Mr Wynne Rawlins was elected as Vice-Chairman. There
were no other nominations.
Other members took up various positions.
Bruce Hinder. Avebury Sportsfield Association & Police
Committee.
Transport Officer. Cllr Mrs J. Haines.
Play Area Overseers. Cllr W. Rawlins & Cllr Hinder.
Footpaths Officer. Cllr M. Bedford who will report back
to Parish Council on a regular basis.
Representative on the Social Centre Committee. Cllr Mrs
Jenny Baldrey.
Police Boxes will be installed at the village shop and
the Wagon & Horses shortly. This will allow members of
the public to place information for the Police
anonymously. Only police officers will be opening the
boxes so all information will be confidential.
Several Cheques were raised for payment.
Two planning applications were discussed. One for
extensions and other work at Bridgemead Avebury, and for
work to be carried out at The Red Lion Avebury. Both of
these applications were approved with reservations
concerning lack of information on the plans for
Bridgemead.
Planning for extensions at Drybeck Beckhampton has been
approved by KDC.
Chairman gave a detailed report on the Solstice meeting.
These meetings are ongoing and there will be further
reports.
A complaint from delivery driver unable to access
Avebury High Street was discussed.
A car was broken into at the Central Car Park on 3rd
April. Anyone with any information is requested to
contact Marlborough police Station.
There have been many comments received concerning the
extremely muddy entrances to the stone circle. National
Trust has been informed.
Members of the Avebury Sportsfield Association are
deeply concerned about the dog faeces which is left on
the Sportsfield by people walking dogs. This is not only
an offence carrying a substantial fine, but is also very
unpleasant for children & adults playing football etc.
The area around the pavilion has been very badly
contaminated recently and members of the Sportsfield
Association are having to clean up on a regular basis.
This is unhealthy and unnecessary and dog walkers are
urged to clear up behind their dogs.
Concern has been expressed regarding the “Free” bus
passes which have been issued recently. The bus passes
come into effect at 9.am until 4 p.m. It should be made
clear that anyone wishing to travel outside of these
times will have to pay full fare.
This seems to be a retrograde step as senior citizens
could travel at any time on half fare prior to the issue
of these passes.
There is a meeting in Marlborough Town Hall on May 8th
to discuss the future of Savernake Hospital. Members of
the Public are urged to attend. We really do want to
keep this hospital. Many of the Parish Councillors and
District Councillor will be attending. Should anyone
want a lift please contact any member of the P.C. or
Chairman on 01672539603 or Clerk on 01672539205.

Avebury
Parish Council - May 2006 |
|
Avebury Council met on the 16th May,
the following items were discussed.
During Public Question time residents asked question of
Inspector Dawson and Acting Sergeant Sexton on the plans
for the coming solstice on June 21st.
Camping will be allowed in the Southern Car Park for 2
nights only and there will be further car parking
facilities in North Park of Avebury Manor overnight of
20th June. This is being arranged by the National Trust
in an effort to keep the roads from becoming blocked and
is also part of the agreement with Kennet District
Council who could have issued an enforcement order to
stop the camping. Part of the agreement is that the N.T.
actively try to find alternative camping for all
celebrations during 2007 onwards. Scott Green, N.T.
Estate Manager has asked that any comments or complaints
regarding the N.T. be forwarded to him. Several
complaints including noise, persistent drumming, dog
barking, and bonfires at the Beltane Celebrations were
noted and have been passed on to relevant authorities.
Cheques were raised for payment. The accounts for
internal and external audit were duly signed and
accepted. Clerk informed members that a litter grant of
£200.00 has been awarded to the village this year.
An application for an extension at 5 Trusloe cottages
was discussed and members decided that a site meeting
would benefit and this will be duly called and a
decision will then be made. Chairman informed that she
will attend the Regulatory meeting in K.D.C. on 18th May
to give the Parish Councils view on the application for
retrospective planning on the new access in Frog Lane.
The Chairman reported on various meeting that she has
attended with KD Councillor Gretchen Rawlins. These
meetings include Tourist & Visitor Management, Solstice
planning meetings, and W.C.C. Highways meeting at KV
Hall regarding the new village Stewards which will
replace the lengths men. This meeting was presented by
Graham Hay who gave assurance that the new Stewards may
be given extra time in the villages along with new
machinery which will make jobs much quicker and
therefore get more work done.
There is a continual presence of campers in Green Street
which is causing deep concern to residents. WCC
Enforcement Officer has been informed.
There were two accidents on the same day near Trusloe
turning prompting more requests for a speed limit
further towards Beckhampton.
It is reported that the Pavilion at Avebury has been
broken into twice recently. The first was during the
Beltane celebrations. Both incidents have been reported
to the Police.
Several members attended the meeting in Marlborough Town
Hall concerning the PCT actions.. Some members were
unable to get in and were told that another meeting will
be held shortly.
The next meeting of the Parish Council will be held on
June 20th at 7.30 p.m. in the Social Centre. Members of
the Public and press are invited.
Jenny Baldrey.

Avebury
Parish Council - Jan 2007 |
|
AVEBURY PARISH COUNCIL
To
KENNET DISTRICT COUNCIL PLANNING OFFICER
As Chairman of Avebury Parish Council
I feel I must inform you all of the reasons behind the
decision to object to the recent planning application
for a height barrier at the Southern Car Park submitted
by the National Trust.
The National Trust have stated in this application that
they intend to place a height barrier across the
entrance to the car park, thus stopping many visitors
from legitimately coming to the village to see the Henge
and the village. This is very non productive on their
behalf. As there are many visitors in motor homes, vans
and other tall units they would effectively be turned
away because they(N.T.) cannot manage their car park
effectively . There is no reason whatsoever for a
barrier except on the occasions when celebrants wish to
stay overnight and especially during the solstice. The
N.T. , following their close association with various
groups of celebrants, have been given dates when the
festivals take place.
During these dates it is the ONLY times when it is
necessary for the height barrier to be in place. During
these festivities the N.T. should be made to manage
their own car park properly and with regard to the
visitors who just want to visit and then go on their
way. The N.T. claim they are short of money. By
effectively blocking a large number of people to the
Henge they will be making even less money. So cost falls
down on this issue. Every motor home, tall vehicle etc
does not necessarily want to stay on a car park where
there are no facilities whatsoever.
Therefore the P.C. feel it is up to the owners of the
park to carry out their duties effectively and not to
place PERMANENT BARRIER across the entrance..
The reason for this action is that KDC are aware that
this usage of the car park needs planning permission and
so far permission has neither been applied for or given.
The P.C. feel that, as the local democratically elected
body they cannot support these extended stays. The P.C.,
following long talks with the Trust had hoped that an
alternative campsite could be found for the festival
dates. Both the P.C. and the Pagan community agreed that
this should be at site no 5. Halfway down Kennet Avenue.
During many meeting the Police also agreed that this
would be the best site for short term camping for the
celebrations. This would be the ideal site for a short
term solution to camping in the southern car park
Jennifer Baldrey, Chairman, Avebury Parish Council.
Avebury Parish Council met on the
16th January 2007. The Precept for 2007/8 has been set
at £9150.00. This is the first increase in five years
and the reason for this is that there will elections in
May of 2007 to which the Parish Council will be required
to make a contribution.
P.C. Michael Bayliss from Marlborough attended this
meeting to explain his role as a Police Community
Officer. He will be helped in this by 1 Community
Officer and 1 special Constable. P.C. Bayliss hopes to
attend Parish Council meetings on a regular basis at
least four times per annum. You may well see him walking
through the villages and local streets where he hopes
that people will talk to him and voice any concerns they
may have.
Many concerns have been raised by villagers over the
future of the shop and Post Office when Mr & Mrs
Stannard retire later this year. The clerk has been
asked to write to the Head Office of the Trust , who own
the property about these concerns and to Michael Ancram
M.P.
Various cheques were raised for payment.
Plans for the Study Centre at Avebury have been approved
by KDC.
An application for a two storey extension and garage at
5 Trusloe Houses has been refused by KDC.
The application for a Height Barrier at the Southern car
park submitted by the National Trust has been
recommended for refusal by the Parish Council. Please
see comments concerning this application.
A tree felling license for work to be carried out at the
N.T. plantation in Green Street has been received.
A letter and plans from Avebury Cricket Club were
discussed and handed on to Avebury Sportsfield
Association for their perusal and decision.
It is noted that the Red Lion Pay & Display sign has
been removed at the request of KDC but that the poles
are still in situ.
A portacabin has been placed in the Southern Car Park by
the National Trust . Members were concerned that this
may need planning permission. KDC has been asked to
investigate.
The Parish Steward will be working in the village for 2
days at the end of January. If there is any small
village work that you would like to see carried out
Please contact Jenny Baldrey 539603 and we can see if
this request can be attended to.
The Chairman gave a report on ASSF meeting and Solstice
meeting attended by both her and the clerk. Also on the
Government White Paper meeting held in Marlborough.
Following discussion it was unanimously decided that
this Parish Council would not wish to be part of a
Unitary Authority.
P.C. Has been informed that the Annual Sarsen Trail
organised by WWL Trust will be held on the 6th May 2007
The next meeting of the Parish Council will take place
on February 20th at 7.30 p.m. in the Social Centre.

Avebury
Parish Council - Feb 2007 |
|
The February meeting took place
in the Social Centre on Tuesday 20th February. 1 Member
of the Public attended.
The keys could not be found for the Police Boxes so Cllr
W. Rawlins will make new fittings for the boxes.
Concerns about the Avebury Shop and Post Office have
been put in writing to the National Trust asking for
their proposals for the shop when the present incumbents
retire. Letters have gone to Michael Ancram, M.P. and
N.T. Chairman.
Plans for new practice nets at the Sports field do not
need planning permission and work will commence on this
shortly.
There has been a large problem in the village recently
concerning sewage seeping out of manholes especially
along footpath 22 ad Bray Street also there has been a
great deal of “ backing up” in household drains.
Following many phone calls by residents and from
Gretchen Rawlins, KDCouncillor, it is hoped that Thames
Water now have this in hand. Should this happen again
please contact Cllr Gretchen Rawlins, 01672 539205 and I
will try my best to get something done by Thames Water.
Thanks too to Mrs Wimble for the amount of work she did
on this matter.
Several cheques were raised for payment.
A letter has been received from the KDC Enforcement
Officer informing the P.C. that the container which was
placed in the southern car park has now been removed.
The glass at the bus shelter opposite the garage has
been broken again. Cllr Chris Humphries will deal with
this.
Complaints were received from villagers concerned over
the drumming during the celebrations of Imbolc by the
Pagan community. This has been reported to both the N.T.
and KDC and Police.
An outbreak of vandalism has been reported to our local
beat Policeman who has attended and talked to the young
people concerned, Local Police Liaison Officers who will
report to P.C. Bayliss are for : West Kennett, Cllr
Dobney. Avebury Trusloe, Cllr Jenny Baldrey, Beckhampton,
Cllr Mike Bedford and Avebury and along Swindon Road,
Cllr Paul Dixon.
It is noted that the funding for the repair work has
been give to English Heritage and work will start
shortly.
Complaints have been made to the P.C. about a large van
parking along the Ridgeway and selling goods. This
matter has been taken up by WCC Humphries.
A letter has been sent to Mr Batten asking that the
requested footpath from the Wagon & Horses be considered
along with a footpath from Trusloe to the Club, also
speed limits extended at either end of the village and
along the A4 near the pub where children have to cross
this dangerous road to catch the school bus.
Several residents have asked for a new notice board near
the Social Centre. It was decided that this would be
better used than the present one at the Shop.
Discussions will take place on this request.
Next meeting of the P.C will be held on the 20th March
in the Social Centre at 7.30. All residents are invited
to attend.
Would everyone please note that the Annual Parish
Meeting will take place on Tuesday the 24th April at
7.30 p.m. Please come and give your support to the P.C.
and meet your District and Wiltshire Councillors to
discuss any matters of concern. THEY ARE ALWAYS READY TO
LISTEN AND HELP.

Avebury
Parish Council -
March 2007 |
|
The Parish
Council Meeting was held on Tuesday. 20th
March 2007.
The Chairman informed members
that WCC Councillor Chris Humphries has been involved in
a serious accident whilst on holiday in Thailand. Best
wishes for a speedy recovery will be sent to his wife to
pass on to Chris.
The Police Box should shortly be placed in Avebury Post Office where
anyone with a complaint or information on Police
matters can inform the Police annonoumsly.
Several Cheques
were raised for payment.
There were two
applications on Planning.
1
Red Lion illuminated display
sign. This was objected to on the grounds of being
unsuitable within a WHS, unfriendly, a visual
distraction and too close to the Highway.
2
Bonds Garage. Several
members left the meeting because of a pecuniary
interest. They took no part in the debate or in the
voting. It was decided to support the application for 5
houses because this would improve the area and would
bring other benefits to the village.
3
Permission has been granted
by KDC to the National Trust for a height barrier
provided it is only used 3 days before a celebration and
2 days afterwards.
The
Chairman reported on meeting with Sacred Sites Forum
and Solstice arrangement for the summer solstice are
still going forward. More on this next month.
Several residents at the lower end of the High Street are still having
problems with the sewerage system backing up. Talks are
still ongoing between Environment Agency and Thames
Water to find a solution to this. As quickly as
possible.
Chairman reported on a fire in the electricity box in the Churchyard a
few days ago. Mrs Farthing was informed and followed
through with actions to Fire Brigade etc/ This fault
was traced back to recent problems at the sewerage
station at Avebury.
A large hole appeared on the footpath by the school. This was quickly
repaired as was the repair to the drain cover at the top
of the High Street.
Concern has been expressed recently over the future of the Post Office
and shop in Avebury when Mr & Mrs Stannard retire in
October 2007. Letters have been received in support of
the Parish Council by the N.T. and Michael Ancram. Both
stated that this facility must be used to the maximum
ability for it to remain viable.
Dogs have been reported running loose in the Trusloe estate again, clerk
will inform dog warden at KDC about this.
It has been
requested that a “NO DOGS ALLOWED “ sign be placed on
the entrances to the sports field where members of the
public are exercising their dogs but not picking up
their dogs faeces. This is unpleasant when football
matches are held especially when there are young
children playing. It is against the law to allow dogs
to foul public areas. IT IS PURELY THE OWNERS
RESPONSIBILIY TO CLEAN UP BEHIND THEIR DOGS.
Election for
Parish Councillors forms must be returned to KDC by
midday on 4th April. Anyone wishing to stand
can obtain documents from KDC.
THE ANNUAL
PARISH MEETING WILL BE HELD ON 24TH APRIL IN
THE SOCIAL CENTRE AT 7.30 P.M. PLEASE COME ALONG AND
HAVE YOUR SAY ON MATTERS IMPORTANT TO YOU.

Avebury
Parish Council -
May 2007 |
|
M/s Linda Jenkins gave information to
member about her concerns over slavery issues. There
will be a walk on the 8th June from London to Bristol
and Liverpool which will pass through Avebury. It may be
possible to provide some refreshment for the walkers.
Cllr Baldrey has agreed to meet & greet the walkers when
they arrive in Avebury.
The minutes of the previous meeting were agreed and
signed.
The election then took place for the Chairman and Vice
Chairman. These are as follows. Chairman Cllr Mrs
Baldrey. Vice-Chairman Cllr Wynne Rawlins.
Two people had written to the clerk asking to be
considered for co-option onto the Parish Council which
was 2 members short of full compliment.
Both Mrs Jenny Haines and Mrs Karyn Pearson were
co-opted. This brings the number of members to its full
number.
The Annual Parish Meeting held in April was discussed.
The total numbers of attendees was 34. This included
members of the Parish Council. Issues arising from this
meeting were requests for the resurfacing of footpath 22
along the back road to Avebury over the Bridges and
signage to try to deter visitors parking down the High
Street. Parking in the High Street was extremely
difficult especially if there was a wedding, funeral or
a function being held in the Social Centre. These
matters will be addressed at the next TVM Meeting in
Avebury.
The Clerk to Parish Council has written to Secretary of
State opposing the Unitary bid by Wiltshire County
Council. Members were also encouraged to write
individually. Every household has received a card which
can be signed and dropped of at the Tourist Information
Centre in the Chapel at Avebury.
The Parish Council has pledged £100 towards a new notice
board which is being made at presentThis will b e placed
next to the Social Centre where it is hoped more people
will read it. The present one at the village shop is not
large enough.
It is noted that work has started on infilling Silbury
Hill by English Heritage.
Various cheques were raised for payment.
Planning for a new garage and storeroom at The Grange
Beckhampton was approved by members.
The signage at the Red Lion comes before Regulatory
Planning at KDC on Thursday. It was objected to by the
Parish Council of being unfriendly to visitors, and
within the curtilage of a listed building.
Chairman reported on several meetings she and the clerk
had attended recently. Complaints had been received by
the P.C. over noise and the using of back gardens near
the N.T. car park being used as toilets.
Chairman will report this at the next solstice meeting
next week.
The new Code of Conduct was accepted by members.
Avebury Parish Council will apply to the Landfill Tax
Credit scheme for a grant towards the play area
equipment.
Various items were laid on the table including the
Transport Times, WALC leaflets and new times for
appointments at Citizens Advice Bureau .
Concerns were raised about the footpath closure because
of an unsafe wall in Kyters Walk. This is being dealt
with as quickly as possible by the owner. And should be
re-opened as soon as the wall is made safe.
THE NEXT MEETING OF THE PARISH COUNCIL WILL BE HELD ON
JUNE 19TH AT 7.30 P.M. IN THE SOCIAL CENTRE WHEN ALL
MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC MAY ATTEND. Jennifer Baldrey,
Chairman, Avebury P.C.

Avebury
Parish Council - July 2007 |
|
Avebury Parish Council met on Tuesday
17th July 2007. All members were present. There was one
member of the public present who asked no questions.
The minutes of the last meeting were agreed and signed.
The closure of Avebury School was discussed in detail
and members were informed that there will be a Public
meeting on 24th July at 7.30.p.m. to discuss with
officers from both Diocese and County the best use of
the building in the future.
The Parish Council were extremely concerned that there
had been no opportunity to try to save the School, Other
schools around the County have been in a similar
situation but parents and public had rallied and the
schools had been turned round and have gone from
strength to strength. It was a shame that discussion
could not have taken place to try this option.
A Thanksgiving service will be held in the Church on
19th July to celebrate the School and pupils and friends
of the School, both old and new, have been asked to
attend.
A BBQ will be held on Sat 21st July in the school
grounds for all pupils, ex pupils and villagers and it
is hoped that many of you will attend.
The notice Board in Trusloe has been vandalised and this
has been reported to the Police. It has now been
repaired, but should this happen again, it will be
removed.
Overhanging Trees and bushes are becoming a problem on
narrow roads and footpaths and alongside main roads..
Many of these are privately owned and the P.C. would ask
the owners of these trees and bushes to please cut them
back. If this is not done then Wiltshire County Council
will be informed and owners will receive letters to get
the work attended to.
Various cheques were raised for payment.
An application for an extension to Greenbank House was
approved by members.
An application for a Garage at The Grange has been
approved by KDC
The Chairman gave reports on the various meetings
attended by her and the clerk.
This included Solstice, ASSF, and TVM, group.
Drains on footpath 22 have been cleared recently so
should be able to deal with heavy rainwater in the
future.
There seems to be some optimism concerning the shop and
Post Office in Avebury as interviews for future tenants
are taking place.
There is a great deal of concern throughout the village
over the Height Barriers at the National Trust Car Park
and the increased costs of parking. This has had the
knock on effect of pushing High sided vehicles and many
cars to try to park in the High Street. It is understood
that the N.T may be in contravention of planning rules
by keeping the barrier at all times. This will be
discussed with KDC.
There have been several complaints about drumming and
fireworks in the village on various evenings and late
into the night.. Mr Gordon Rimes has volunteered to talk
to anyone celebrating overnight and he can be contacted
at anytime, day or night on Avebury 539131. This is a
generous offer but one that needs to be taken up so if
noise from revellers disturbs you then please ring Mr
Rimes in the first instance .
There is still concerns over the speeds of motorcycles
in the area especially on Wednesday evening. The Parish
Council have passed to Police letters of complaint and
asking that this serious matter be more stringently
addressed.
There will be no meeting of the Parish Council in
August. Date of next meeting is September 18th at
7.30.p.m. in the Social Centre.

February 2008 |
|
A.P.C. met on Tuesday 15th January at
7.30 p.m. in the Social Centre. The Chairman began by
wishing everyone a Happy New Year.
Apologies were received from Cllrs Hinder, Bedford, &
WCC Chris Humphries.
The minutes of the November meeting were agreed and
signed.
Matters arising.
An update on Avebury School building was given by Karyn
Pearson. It would seem that a group has been set up to
hopefully purchase and run the building. This would be
mostly educational but the building could be used for
weddings and other exhibitions etc. Proposals will now
be sent to Salisbury diocese.
FINANCE
Several cheques were raised for payment.
A grant of £12.000.00 has been awarded to the P.C
towards refurbishment of the pavilion. This was awarded
by Kennet District Council. A further grant of £4,850.00
is being asked for towards the refurbishment of the play
area. The safety matting in the play area needs
replacing as does the fencing which has become rather
dilapidated. The repacement of the fencing is now
somewhat urgent.
PLANNING
The plan for refurbishment of the pavilion has been
submitted to Kennet District Council
The refurbishment of the Red Lion has been approved by
KDC
The Bonds Garage application for houses has been
approved by KDC
